Retraction, Correction & Expression of Concern Policy
Retraction, Correction, and Expression of Concern Policy
The Journal of Image Processing and Intelligent Remote Sensing (JIPIRS) is committed to the integrity of the scientific record. In accordance with Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines, the following procedures apply to published work.
1. Corrections (Erratum / Corrigendum)
A correction notice will be issued when a published article contains errors that do not affect the conclusions but could mislead readers. Corrections are published as a linked erratum note and the original article is updated with a correction flag. Authors are obliged to notify the Editor-in-Chief promptly upon discovering errors in their published work.
2. Retractions
JIPIRS will retract a published article if:
- There is clear evidence of unreliable findings due to misconduct (data fabrication, falsification, or image manipulation)
- The findings have been published previously without proper cross-reference (duplicate publication)
- The work contains plagiarism
- The authorship is disputed in a way that cannot be resolved
- Ethical approval was absent for research requiring it
Retraction notices will: (a) be linked to the retracted article; (b) state the reason for retraction; (c) be freely accessible; and (d) be submitted to CrossMark for metadata updating. The retracted article will remain online but be clearly watermarked as "RETRACTED" with the date.
3. Expression of Concern
An Expression of Concern may be published when the editors have inconclusive evidence of research or publication misconduct, or when an investigation is underway but a conclusion has not yet been reached. This alerts readers to potential issues while the matter is investigated.
4. Procedure
All concerns about published work should be directed to the Editor-in-Chief at editor.jipirs@gmail.com. Investigations will follow COPE flowcharts. The identity of anyone raising a concern will be kept confidential during the investigation. Decisions are documented and retained.
