Digital Preservation and Archiving Policy
The Journal of Humanities, Music and Dance (JHMD) is committed to the long-term preservation and permanent accessibility of all published content. Multiple redundant preservation mechanisms are maintained to ensure the scholarly record remains accessible indefinitely.
PKP Private LOCKSS Network (PKP PLN)
JHMD participates in the PKP Private LOCKSS Network (PKP PLN), a distributed digital preservation system built on LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) technology. The network automatically harvests, preserves, and makes journal content available across a global network of participating academic libraries. In the event of journal discontinuation or system failure, preserved copies remain accessible through the network.
LOCKSS
JHMD supports the LOCKSS initiative, enabling participating libraries to independently collect, preserve, and serve the journal’s content to their communities.
Persistent Identifiers (DOIs)
All articles published in JHMD are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through Crossref (DOI prefix: 10.55529). DOIs provide permanent, resolvable links to all content, ensuring citability and discoverability regardless of future URL changes.
Crossref membership ensures that metadata for all JHMD articles is permanently deposited in the Crossref registry.
Self-Archiving (Green Open Access)
Authors may deposit the final published version (Version of Record) in: - Personal or institutional websites - Institutional repositories (DSpace, EPrints, etc.) - Subject repositories (ResearchGate, Academia.edu, SSRN, etc.) - Funder or national repositories
There is no embargo period. Self-archiving is permitted immediately upon publication. All archived copies must include a full citation and link to the original article’s DOI.
Commitment on Journal Discontinuation
In the unlikely event that JHMD ceases publication, HM Publishers commits to: 1. Providing at least 90 days advance notice to authors and the academic community. 2. Ensuring all published content remains accessible via PKP PLN and other preservation networks. 3. Transferring DOI records to Crossref in accordance with journal transfer policies. 4. Depositing a complete archive with at least one recognized digital preservation organization.
