Digital Preservation and Archiving Policy

Commitment to Long-Term Preservation

The Journal of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Neural Network (JAIMLNN) is committed to the long-term preservation and permanent availability of all published scholarly content. HM Publishers ensures that every article published in JAIMLNN remains accessible to readers, researchers, and institutions worldwide — even in the event of journal discontinuation, technical failure, or organizational change.

Active Preservation Systems

The full text of all articles published in JAIMLNN is deposited in the following internationally recognized digital preservation networks:

1. CLOCKSS

CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) is a not-for-profit, community-governed archive jointly operated by leading academic publishers and research libraries worldwide. In the event that JAIMLNN ceases publication or becomes unavailable, content preserved in CLOCKSS will be automatically triggered for release as open access to the global research community.

2. LOCKSS

LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) is a decentralized, open-source digital preservation technology developed at Stanford University. Participating libraries worldwide maintain local copies of JAIMLNN content, ensuring redundant, distributed, and permanent preservation.

3. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

The PKP Private LOCKSS Network (PKP PN) is operated by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP), the developer of Open Journal Systems. The PKP PN distributes preserved copies of JAIMLNN content across multiple geographically distributed nodes, providing an additional layer of long-term security for all published articles.

What is Preserved

All content deposited across these three networks includes:

  • Full-text articles in PDF format
  • Complete article metadata (title, authors, affiliations, abstract, keywords, DOI)
  • Reference lists
  • Issue and volume structure
  • Supplementary materials where applicable

Persistent Identifiers

All articles published in JAIMLNN are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) via Crossref (prefix: 10.55529). DOIs provide stable, permanent links to published content and ensure that citations remain resolvable over time, independent of any changes to the journal website.

Author Self-Archiving

Authors are permitted and encouraged to deposit their published articles in institutional repositories, subject repositories, or personal websites. The published PDF (Version of Record) may be self-archived immediately upon publication with no embargo, under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence.

Continuity of Access

In the event that JAIMLNN ceases publication or the journal website becomes unavailable:

  • CLOCKSS will trigger an open access release of all preserved content.
  • LOCKSS library nodes worldwide will continue to serve preserved copies.
  • PKP PN distributed nodes will maintain access to all deposited content.
  • All Crossref DOIs will continue to resolve to preserved copies.
